In The Days After

Last Wednesday my home state was hit by massive tornados. I sat in front of my tv with my husband and child and watched the devistation unfold. I watched as the cities of my family were ravaged by mother natures fury and prayed that God spared them. I was lucky. All of my family members made it out with minimal damage. My home barely scathed, but others weren’t as lucky. Many perished, hundreds lost everything, and thousands were injured. Please pray for the families who were effected by the Tornadoes. Here are a few pics of the aftermath in Tuscaloosa (one of the most devestatingly hit areas.)

Friday’s Five

20110415-094213.jpg

Sometimes in life we get caught up in ourselves, our success and failures, our dreams and nightmares, our carefree and stressful moments. These are the times, yes good times too, that we might need motivation to keep going. Here are five motivational quotes that I love:

1. “A person who never made a mistake never tried anything new.” – Albert Einstein
How many times have you been scared to try something new? I know I have but in the end it generally turns out great! That being said you don’t have to jump in feet first but at least stick your toe in the water and give it a try!

2. “Kites rise highest against the wind – not with it.” – Sir Winston Churchill
How many of us have quite because something got hard? Pushing through tough times is what makes you stronger. Then when imes get tough again, and they will, you’ll be even better at pushing through it.

3. “Excellence is not a skill. It is an attitude.” – Ralph Marston
Plain and simple- positive attitudes equal positive moments that lead to excellence.

4. “Everyone thinks of changing the world, but no one thinks of changing himself.” – Leo Tolstoy
No one is perfect. Self reflection and improvement is a necessary part of daily life.

5. “A journey of a thousand miles must begin with a single step.” – Lao-Tsu
Last but not least my most favorite quote of all time. You will get NO WHERE standing still. If you want to succeed and change then you must move forward!

What are some of your favorite quotes?

Dress and Success!

I’m not quite done with my first order yet (I am still working on the ruffle shorts.) It’s harder to get a ton done without the assistance of my Mother-in-law. She was so great at watching Stink for me while I worked. I do however have access to my Serger while at home. This is good and bad. Some days it likes me…. some days not so much…. Anyways, even though I’m not completely done with the order Bella’s mom came and picked up what I had already completed. As soon as they got home Bella couldn’t wait to try on her “Fancy Nancy” dress I made her. Her mom reports that she refuses to take it off! GO ME! Here is the “Fancy Bella” in her “Fancy Nancy” dress:

if you want to know how to make this dress refer to this post where I made Stink one without straps in Tinkerbell.

California Day 1

Hubby and I arrived in Anaheim, California late Wednesday. We decided that the following Thursday would be our shopping day. We hit two main shopping centers. The first was called The Block at Orange. There were tons of outlet stores here with great prices. We walked and shopped here for hours! If you are ever in Anaheim, Ca, then I highly suggest spending some time here. I found several outfits and accessories. My hubby, who is SUPER picky, also found tons of clothes. Then we headed over to The Garden Walk. I was disappointed in this venue. It’s mostly restaurants with a few stores here and there, even though the website claims different. It’s also not very large. I did find some Sketchers that I liked here, but that was about it.  If I’m ever in the area again I will probably skip this venue for shopping but definitely return for dining. It had multiple upscale restaurants available and was in walking distance to our resort.

OH.MY.GAWD.GROSS.

I was searching the internet for random stuff because yes people sometimes I just need a break from housework when I came across this:

This is a "Kitty Litter" Cake GAG GAG GAG

Seriously that has to be the most DISGUSTING looking concoction of food I have ever seen. Even the thought of eating it makes me gag. I will say though, this is definitely one way to keep me from eating all of the cake…….
